ICM: Single Exposure
“Don’t shoot what it looks like. Shoot what it feels like” ~David Alan Harvey
All the images in this gallery are single-exposure ICM images from various projects and series. This gallery shows the limitless genres of photography where ICM can be used. All the effects in the photos are the result of Intentional Camera Movements, where you move the camera while using long shutter speeds. The beauty of ICM photography is the broad range of effects you can create simply by using the two variables of shutter speed and specific camera movements.
ICM reveals forms and patterns that capture time and the world around you in astonishing and unexpected ways. ICM techniques are one of the things I specialize in sharing in my presentations and workshops. My style often leans towards the use of vibrant colours and contrast as compared to the soft textures and pastel colours often associated with ICM photography.
