We are the sum of our Choices

Humans are hard wired to be social creatures. We crave interactions and relationships with one another. Our greatest strengths lie in our ability to work together to create anything we can imagine, and to solve any challenges that confront us. This pandemic comes at a time when we as a species are perhaps more distanced, more divided, and less accepting of each other than perhaps at any time in history. 

We are at a pivotal point in our history, when there are many roads we can take towards the future. This pandemic is a reminder that there are other life forms on the planet with a powerful instinct to survive, to replicate, and to evolve – indifferent to our needs or desires. This experience will most likely dramatically change the way we interact with one another, how we do business, and how we structure both our economy and society itself. The long-term outcome of this encounter with a simple, microscopic virus will depend on the choices we make. It’s time for all of us to look at what we have built, how we interact with each other, and how we truly want our future to be. 

Each of us lives but a brief time compared to the billions of years that our planet has existed. With our unique attribute of self-awareness, limitless imagination and capacity for learning – collectively we get to choose how we want our future to be, and to work together to bring that vision into reality.
