Online or In-Person Presentations, Workshops & Photo Walks
The key to a satisfying creative life is – NEVER STOP LEARNING!
I offer online webinars, group talks, workshops, consultations, and photo walks here in British Columbia or at your location. I’m currently booking presentations on both beginning and advanced Intentional Camera Movement, Multi-Exposure ICM, Urban Abstract Photography, and the joys of Multi-Genre Photography. My photo walks focus both on the urban environment and the South Coast of British Columbia landscapes.
Every presentation or workshop is custom tailored for each individual or group, and can be tailored for beginning or advanced photographers. I share my years of experience as a professional photographer, photography instructor, and as a mentor to those who want to develop their creative skills. I often utilize a personal coaching and development model based on the coaching work of Thomas Leonard, who I was fortunate to train with. Coupled with the sharing of technical skills, personal mentoring helps each participant to clarify their goals, motivations, obstacles and opportunities to create images they might never have imagined they could. My goal is always to inspire and motivate every participant to find the creative path that brings joy to their life.
My greatest joy comes from seeing a participant awaken to an ability or a way of seeing that they never realized they had, then to see those new-found abilities expressed in the art they create. For participants, the greatest reward is to start creating images that reveal more of YOU, your vision and your creative spark.

Art & Artistry of Intentional Camera Movement –
An introduction to the amazing world of ICM and Multiple-Exposure ICM photography. This presentation is perfect for those who would like to learn about the many styles of ICM photography and the incredible images you can create with it. I cover the many styles and genres of ICM photography, how to create ICM photographs, the movements used to make ICM’s, special processing considerations, as well as the philosophy of abstract photography. This is a perfect introduction for those who are new to ICM photography, and for more experienced photographers.
Re-Mixing Reality – Exploring the world of ICM and Abstract Photography –
Using numerous inspiring photographs, I demonstrate how developing an eye for abstract compositions and learning to use a variety of ICM and Multi-Exposure ICM techniques can open up new perspectives and photo opportunities in any genre of photography you practice. I help each student clarify their creative strengths, as well as identifying anything that might be holding them back from creating the type of art they dream of creating.
I cover how traditional art and ICM are related, the power of creating narratives for your images, the many forms of single and multiple-exposure ICM, and special processing considerations for ICM photography. This presentation can be tailored for a combination of beginning and advanced ICM photographers. In the longer workshop style program, there is time for review and feedback for skill and creativity development assignments provided.
Exploring the Art & Artistry of Multi-Genre Photography –
In this presentation, I discuss how developing an eye for art and abstract compositions, and embracing a love of multiple genres of photography creates limitless creative opportunities. This presentation features many examples of my Urban Abstracts, the natural realm of the Pacific Northwest, Monochrome photography, the Vancouver cityscape and a collection of my experimental images. I cover the importance of pre-visualizing images with printed art as a goal, developing an abstractionist perspective, embracing new and experimental techniques, and developing a narrative to help inspire you to create unique images and projects.
Meditation and Photography – Developing a more Contemplative Photography Practice, and have more FUN in the process!
Sometimes, the most important thing you can do in life is simply to slow down. Slow down to see the possibilities and the opportunities in everything around you.
Discover how the practice of meditation can have a positive influence on your ability to see the world around you and create expressive and meaningful photographs from a fresh perspective. As photographers we are so often caught up in the technique of photography and often miss the connection to our individual creative practice. This presentation covers a simple meditative process that promotes a contemplative state of mind, helping you to be fully present to the many photo opportunities around you and to help you see without the pressure of performance or expectation of a specific outcome. Learn to relax, to play and become fully present to your photography. The discussion touches on contemplative photography, how to slow down, relax and improve focus with your practice, relearning how to see without judgement, discovering a different perspective of the world around you and learning how to capture images that express your individual style.
Included with this presentation is a written set of instructions for a simple meditation technique that anyone can easily adopt. In addition to my years as a photographer, I am also a certified meditation instructor. I like to emphasize that the meditation technique that I share does not involve the need to adopt any mystical beliefs or “woo”, but is based on well-established scientific techniques for bringing awareness of your breath and mindset to help you focus on the world in front of you. In addition to bringing more joy to your practice of photography, you just might find that the practice brings more joy to your daily life.
